Poem: "Fuse"

I want fireworks
At my funeral,
Flickering fish scales in a reef
An epitaph in streamers
Of smoke in the sky.

I don’t want to be buried,
Left forever in wood and dirt,
Or trapped in an urn
A genie with no wishes to grant
On an unlit fireplace’s mantle.

Shoot me into the night,
Not towards heaven
With its confining Gate,
But an endless untouchable blue

And black salted with stars
Dead for a thousand years
But still burning.
