Just a Couple Links

A VERY small Linkspam, just for fun.

So there is THIS, The Official Shrub on Gender Similarity Hypothesis.

But men and women were born different! Isn't that obvious?

Aren't feminists just sexist towards men?

But doesn't evidence show that women are just as likely to batter men?

Don't women have "female privilege"?

What is slut shaming?

Ever gotten an email from a concerned family member with instructions as to how you, a helpless woman, can prevent your own rape? Sorry to let you know, but it's bullshit. It perpetuates not only the idea that most rape is perpetrated by a stranger, but it implies that women have any sort of control over the actions of men, and that it's even partially our fault for "letting it happen." Stop perpetuating rape myths. No matter what a woman wears, what time she's out at night, who she knows or what she does, the FACT is that NO WOMAN WOULD BE RAPED IF NO ONE RAPED HER. The control is all on the rapist. (This does include the 9% of reported rapes in which the survivor is male--and 98-99% of reported rapes are perpetrated by men.)

And finally, for anyone intimidating by feminists, don't worry. You're not alone.

In regards to the link above: I would self identify as a POC ally. I believe that racism and its kin are issues that should be important to all people, and that as a person with white privilege it is my duty as an ally to not complain when generalizations are made about whites, to not stand in the way of those campaigning for actual equality, and that if I am reading a blog about how white people are privileged by a social construct and society that discriminates against POC and I think "but I don't do that!" that I need to keep my stupid mouth shut because IT'S NOT ABOUT ME.
